Cannabis consulting services in Michigan

Social Equity Solutions provides Michigan cannabis businesses, social equity applicants, and nonprofits with compliance consulting, social equity program development, grant writing, and CRA All-Star certification support. Every service is designed to produce something that runs inside your operation, not a plan that sits on a shelf.

What Social Equity Solutions offers

01

Cannabis compliance and licensing

CRA compliance requirements are specific, overlapping, and updated regularly. Most operators are not falling short because they lack the intent. They are falling short because nobody translated the rules into a workable, repeatable system. This service does that.

SES works with licensed Michigan operators and license applicants to navigate the Cannabis Regulatory Agency's regulatory framework: from the two-step application process and Metrc compliance to ongoing rule interpretation, audit preparation, and documentation systems that hold up under scrutiny.

  • CRA license application support

  • Metrc compliance and tracking setup

  • Ongoing regulatory monitoring and rule interpretation

  • Audit preparation and documentation review

  • Municipal compliance and local licensing coordination

02

Social equity program development

A social equity plan that meets the minimum CRA threshold is one thing. One that holds up to scrutiny, qualifies your business for grant funding, supports All-Star certification, and produces traceable community outcomes is another. SES builds the second kind.

Melissa served on the CRA DEIW Social Equity Program Effectiveness Subcommittee and contributed to the evaluation of the state's social equity framework. She understands what the CRA is looking for because she helped assess whether the program was working. SES uses that understanding to build social equity programs that are not just compliant, but credible and durable.

  • Social equity plan design and documentation

  • Corporate spend plan development with diverse supplier verification

  • Community reinvestment plan and outcome tracking

  • CRA social equity program alignment and reporting

  • Expungement and reentry integration for community reinvestment programs

03

Grant writing and funding strategy

The CRA Social Equity Grant Program awards eligible licensees annual funding to deploy toward employee training, business infrastructure, and community investment. Eligibility requires All-Star certification and an active social equity program. Getting the application right, structuring the spend correctly, and reporting outcomes to keep the next cycle open require a specific kind of preparation.

SES is itself a recipient of the CRA Social Equity Grant Program, awarded in both FY 2024 and FY 2025. That is not a credential for advising clients through the process. It is from going through it directly. SES applies that firsthand knowledge to help cannabis businesses and nonprofits identify funding opportunities, meet eligibility requirements, write strong applications, and deploy funds in categories the CRA approves.

  • CRA Social Equity Grant Program application development

  • Grant eligibility assessment and readiness planning

  • Spend category structuring and documentation

  • Post-award compliance and outcome reporting

  • Nonprofit and mission-driven organization funding strategy

04

CRA All-Star certification support

Gold-level certification in the CRA Social Equity All-Star Program is the gateway to grant funding, and a public signal that a business has met state-verified benchmarks for equity, community reinvestment, and diverse supplier engagement. Bronze and Silver levels matter. Gold unlocks the most.

Social Equity Solutions holds Gold-level All-Star certification. Getting there required a fully implemented social equity plan, a verified corporate spend plan with diverse Michigan suppliers, and a community reinvestment plan with documented, reportable outcomes. SES has built all of those systems for itself. This service is currently building them for you.

  • All-Star tier assessment and gap analysis

  • Social equity plan development aligned with CRA All-Star criteria

  • Corporate spend plan with diverse supplier identification and verification

  • Community reinvestment plan design and documentation

  • CRA submission support and tier advancement roadmap

What working with Social Equity Solutions looks like

Initial consultation

A conversation about your current situation, what you are trying to accomplish, and where the gaps are. This is not a sales call. It is a working session that produces a clear picture of what support looks like.

Assessment and strategy

SES maps your current state against CRA requirements, funding eligibility, and your program goals. The output is a specific plan: what needs to be built, in what order, with what documentation, by what deadline.

Build and implementation

The work gets done. Systems are built, documents are written, submissions are prepared, and outcomes are tracked. SES does not hand off a deliverable and disappear. Implementation is the service.
